Various Christian groups asked the precious Coalition government to allow Christians who are being persecuted in overseas nations to come as migrants to Australia. This was particularly relevant for Christians in some of the Middle East countries that have Muslim majorities.

Richard Kerbaj has TWO articles in The Australian - one Saturday July 19th, and one the following Monday July 21st.

The first article highlights letters relating to Kevin Andrews, the Coalition Minister responsible for Immigration prior to the last election.

2nd Article: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24048899-5013871,00.html

One aspect is the proposal to remove local Muslim staff from embassies as they were seen to be prone to not supporting applications for Christians to migrate… bribery and fraud are mentioned…
“In the letter, seen by The Weekend Australian, Mr Andrews accused the case workers in Australian embassies of fraud and bribery when processing migration applications.”
Mr Andrews said they “raised considerable security risks”.

Following the Saturday article, various Muslim groups reacted and complained - their responses are included in the second article…

Of interest is the fact that Daniel Scot made a reference to such practices by local workers in embassies regarding migration - that was one of the points of complaint made by the ICV.

We should ALL be asking PM Kevin Rudd to ensure that persecuted Christians be accepted as migrants AND supporting the idea that local Muslim workers not be employed in embassies!
