To accuse the ABC of left-wing bias is to play into the divisive politics which is typical of our current election campaign. If Federal Police do find any illegal activities have been committed, then it's correct that action should be taken. The Government of Australia has every right to restrict entry of refugees into this country for 2 reasons (1) to ensure funding is available to serve the needs of it's current citizens including immigrants who have successfully immigrated, long term Aussies and traditional owners, Aborigines. (2) to ensure terrorists and criminals do not enter Australia claiming refugee status. Economic Prosperity is critical to ensure Justice systems are effectively funded and the social security system (one of the best on the planet) is also well funded. In contrast, Poor Third World Countries cannot support themselves, in many cases are unstable, suffer from corrupt legal systems and police forces, and have major economic problems. Australians who are in the main, prosperous, should be proud of their level of generosity to the Third World, but this is only achievable due to hard work by Australians and excellent management of the Economy by this Liberal Government. Sadly people soon forget the 17% interest rates under an earlier Labor Government. Therefore, the key issue is balance. The Australian Government cannot solve the world's poverty problem or refugee problem but nevertheless, it certainly does help out. Christians have every right and should be encouraged to assess the level of Christianity that exists within each Political Party. It is naive to suggest that merely speaking out on issues changes political directions. In WA the Labour party reduced the age of consent for homosexuality to 16 years of age. Labours Jim McGinty even went so far as to be photographed consecrating ceremonies for Pagan Homosexual festivals (homosexuality and withcraft, what a combination!!!). But the Liberal party before them were the first to legalise abortion. We need to vote for Christians that are unafraid to proclaim Jesus. We have Family first and the Christian democrats. If we vote for these then they can use our votes to leverage increments of power from the major parties. When I voted last election my Christian party handed their preferences to the Liberal party. I was concerned, but having seen the very good job John Howard has done I am happy that they used my vote effectively. I have never been a Howard fan but I believe he has done a very reasonable job compared to Labour which is openly hostile to Bible believing Christians. Lets see what Gods word has to say about homosexuality: "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination"(Lev. 18:22) "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives." (Lev 20:13) "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."(1 Cor. 6:9-10) "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper." (Rom. 1:26-28) "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire." I have a serious concern that Kevin Rudd is trying hard to give the best answer he possibly can, simply to maximise the Labor vote. This means:- Give an answer that won't upset non Christians and non Church Go-ers who either know nothing about Jesus Christ (or simply are not interested) but don't provide an answer that may affect the vote of church Go-ers and christians who may wish to vote Labor. Neither "hot" or "cold". In Australia, there now appears to be a very strong "Climate Change" agenda with Australians (including Christian leaders) deeply concerned about this issue. K Rudd and P Garrett are playing the "Environmental Saviour" role to a tee, as though "ONLY" the Labor party can save the WORLD from climate change, and if you don't vote labor the world as we know it will collapse. This is clearly ridiculous. Australia is a small economy on the world stage and is a small generator of CO2. Howard and Turnbull are now making significant progress in this area on a World scale and their efforts and influence should not be minimised.
