“We applaud the President’s courage in standing up for the Constitution and the principle of equal protection under the law.”

Although the U.S. House of Representatives, Wednesday, approved the controversial “Hate Crimes” bill, the President promised to veto the measure, should it also pass in the Senate.

Dr. James Dobson, founder and chairman of Focus on the Family, welcomed the news from the White House.

“We applaud the President’s courage in standing up for the Constitution and the principle of equal protection under the law,” said Dobson. “The American justice system should never create second-class victims, and it is a first-class act of wisdom and fairness for the President to pledge to veto this unnecessary bill.”

According to the Citizen Link report, the measure would greatly impede religious freedoms and the freedom of speech, as it would “enshrine” sexual orientation and gender identities as civil rights matters.
