Celebrating the 9th Anniversary for Freedom of Speech Victory

This Wednesday the 22nd of June will mark the 9th Anniversary for protecting Freedom of Speech in Australia.

From 2002 to 2007, Daniel Nalliah the lead senate candidate for Victoria was in the centre of a court case for freedom of Speech in Melbourne, Australia, when the Islamic Council of Victoria took him to court on vilification charges.

In 2007 Dr Nalliah won a landmark Australian legal battle in Supreme Court with the Islamic Council of Victoria for freedom of speech and the right to criticize parts of the Koran which promote hate and religious intolerance.

He was officially recognized and thanked by the former Prime Minister John Howard in his office in Canberra. He was also nominated for Australian of the year in 2007.

    Dear Danny,
I thought I should share the following which came as a revelation to me. I, too am a immigrant since 1969 and I understand the freedom this country enjoyed which clearly is now under threat.

The point I make relates to Same Sex Marriage and the threat that it poses to the Church under Equal Rights.
The concern is that Churches will come under fire and be forced to marry Gay couples under the same banner of “Equal Rights”

I thought about the old adage, “Politics and Religion should not mix.” It’s because Islam mixes Politics and Religion that the West has become the target. The West that was birthed in Christianity does not live up to its name. The shame that has been brought to our great God and the Lord Jesus Christ breaks our hearts. Evil has progressed by leaps and bounds and will continue to do so. So when it becomes “Politics verses Religion ” that’s when the Church is in jeopardy. But it doesn’t have to be that way. So Let’s
    keep Politics and Religion apart.

In reality, if under the banner of Politics, same sex marriage moves ahead, and if the Church steps back from waving the Christian flag in the face of Politics and kept its beliefs within in Church, then Politics will have no powers to interfere with the Church. Gays will not be able to bring charges against the Church because they were given rights under the Political banner NOT THE RELIGIOUS BANNER.

We are instructed to love all men. Loving gays in no way means we condone their choices. If a gay person needs help I’m positive a Believer would help. You see the church has been the reason why Gays were imprisoned centuries ago. Not just gays but young girls having illegitimate children were also stigmatised. It was a horror story then. Today the world remembers and shuns the voice of the Church as being the real problem.

To make for a better world is to work with these people and seek Almighty

God’s mercy because it’s His Will that no man should perish.

So I return to the core thought of this letter which is to keep Politics and Religion Apart. That way Politics will have no claims on the Church. And gays or abortionists will not have the right to charge the Church because their rights of equality was passed under the Political banner. I believe there is some credence here, even though there could be some loopholes. I will leave it with you.

Thanks for reading this. May our God of grace be your daily strength.

    Jean
