General Immediate Media Release –23rd April 2014

From the Daily Telegraph, “This Friday, in two rugby matches featuring rival New Zealand and Australian teams, the national anthems will not be played. And all because of some crazy rule book that says they can’t.”

Let’s get this straight. This Friday, April 25th – for many our “National Day” – the Nation’s capital will host the Super Rugby “grand-final rematch” between the ACT Brumbies and N.Z’s Waikato Chiefs. At this venue the opportunity to honor our proud countries with our National Anthem will be not permitted.

This is hard to fathom because we, Australians, together with the New Zealanders constitute “ANZAC”.

Exactly 100 years ago, hostilities on the Eastern and Western fronts partially ceased when isolated games of football [soccer] erupted between shell-shocked Germans and Russian & British soldiers respectively.

Why has the normally joyful rendition of our proud songs been rugby tackled on this centenary year of peace?

We contacted the Australian Rugby Union who informed us that they had no say in the decision and suggested that we contact info@sanzarrugby.com to make a complaint, as we also encourage all patriotic Aussies & Kiwis to do.

Let them know that you want the National Anthem to be sung as it is done at all other games.

This issue was also highlighted on the Channel Seven Sunrise Program with Kochie this morning Wednesday 23rd April.

At a time when many voices are trying to drum down the Anzac Day celebrations based on political correctness, Rise Up Australian Party is committed to promote and encourage people to honour and respect our Diggers who paid a heavy price to keep our nation free and democratic.

Rise Up Australia Party will stand and fight to Keep Australia Australian.

Thank you to all who contacted SANZAR.

    Their official reply is below.

Thank you for getting in touch with your feedback.

SANZAR will be honouring the spirit of the Anzacs as it has always done with the Ode, the playing of the Last Post, a moment’s silence and the Rouse and Reveille with teams lined up on the field prior to all Super Rugby matches in Australia and New Zealand this weekend.

We have not received any request from teams or National Unions to play the national anthems.

    Kind regards,
    SANZAR

    To Whom it may concern,

I am outraged that you would even think of not having the New Zealand and Australian National Anthem sung at the Anzac day rugby match?

This is an insult to the diggers who fought for you and me in the war so we can enjoy Freedom.

Are you an Australian? Are you proud of this nation or ashamed?

Isn’t it time to stand up and to honor who we are and what others have done for this Nation…This should not be a choice.

This has made many many angry…I hope you heed this and allow them to be sung..

    Yours Sincerely

    Maree

Sir, further to your email to me I forward the following email from SANZAR, please note the last line, “We have not received any request from teams or National Unions to play the national anthems.” Keep em honest, Danny! May our God continue to bless and strengthen you, Kevin (Brisbane).

    To Whom It May Concern,

I am outraged that you have decided not to play the national anthems at the upcoming match between Australia and New Zealand.

What is going on? Who is running the show there? Why have you done this? What have you done?

I sincerely hope it is not in the name of multicultural sensitivities? The very reason we have a safe country for migrants is that our Diggers fought, bled and died under our national anthems creating the freedoms we now enjoy.

I don’t know who you are or your authority but I am ashamed at your action and disgusted at the very suggestion that the anthems of these two great countries who fought alongside each other cannot be played.

I hope you reconsider this treachery and play the anthems with the volume right up.

    Signed,

    Danny

Thank you for that SANZAR. I’m sorry I was given to understand the match was between Australia and New Zealand. Thank you for clearing that up. Rachel

    Dear Rachel,

National anthems have never been a component of pre-game formalities at Super Rugby games in any of our three territories. Our teams represent regions and provinces, not their respective nations as a whole on the international stags. The national anthems are reserved for international Test matches and this is a position that is supported by all teams and Unions.

    Kind regards,
    SANZAR

    Hi SANZAR

Thank you for your prompt response. That’s great that you are doing those things, but it seems to me that you shouldn’t have to wait for a request to play the national anthems. It is the usual thing with sport to play them. Are you afraid of offending someone from another country?

    Rachel

    Hi RUAP,

I responded to your email re the lack of National Anthems at the Super Rugby matches on ANZAC day and got the reply from them that neither of the Teams had requested that.
