1) Thank you so very much for praying and standing with us yesterday for the VCAT hearing, which went very well, lasting only 15 minutes.
CTFM was represented by our Planning Consultant and our Solicitor. The City of Casey Council was represented by their legal firm. There was no one representing the mosque.
The Deputy Commissioner of VCAT walked in and took her place. She apologised several times about the error caused by VCAT in overlooking our application against the mosque?s permit being issued. She also acknowledged that the application made by CTFM was valid and that it was made within the 21 day period.
Thus, she stated that the permit issued by the City of Casey Council to build the mosque was invalid and instructed the Council to revoke the permit, for which the Council?s lawyers agreed to do so.
Pr Daniel stated, “I am very appreciative of the fact that VCAT accepted its mistake and apologised. However, we had to pay for the VCAT’s mistake. I think that is not at all fair.?
In the month of July, VCAT plans to hear our case against the mosque being built in Doveton next to our proposed new premises for CTFM. We will keep you posted over the next few months.
This is only a small win at this point. We need to pray that the mosque will not be built in Doveton. Please pray for God’s clear guidance for our legal team.
