Palau Fest in Ho Chi Minh City by Aimee Herd : Apr 15, 2011 : MNN

Luis Palau, his son Andrew and their ministry team have made history this month. They broke a dry spell of permission of foreign evangelists to preach the Gospel openly in Vietnam.

As the team arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on April 5th, they were welcomed by a crowd of about 500, cheering and carrying roses.

Palau was literally “walking by faith” for the festival they had put together to be held in the city, since officials still had not granted them a permit. Finally, only 3 hours before the event was scheduled to start, a permit was given—but for a different location. The obstacle was quickly overcome by locals who began immediately to set up the Palau Festival in the new location; a soccer stadium. Although there was subsequently a late start, it didn’t hurt the event with thousands attending, and thousands ultimately making professions of faith in Jesus Christ.

The Palau team is staying on in Vietnam for a couple more weeks in order to visit the churches there, encouraging leaders and preaching the Gospel.

1 Response to “Palau First Foreign Evangelist to Preach Christ Openly in Vietnam since 1975”

having lived in Vietnam for a year with my family in 1998/99 this is wonderful news. The way has been paved by many missionaries tilling the soli with prayer and service to the Vietnamese people. So I just thank the Lord for his goodness and mercy and for open doors, doors no man could open but in the Lord’s timing the walls begin to break down for the gospel to be preached.
