Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:5-6

I have watched with a great deal of curiosity the feeding frenzy created by the White House regarding the burning of the Quran by a pastor in Florida. I am always leery of where it is the media is trying to take me.

First of all, they want us to know that Pastor Terry Jones shepherds a “small congregation” in Gainesville, Florida, as if behavior is validated by the number of followers that one has. Evidently Joel Osteen’s version of the Gospel is better than Pastor Jones’ because he has such a large following. I’m sure that Pastor Osteen would never do such a “hateful” thing.

You certainly realize that this whole event was driven by the White House, don’t you? Don’t you find it troubling that the President, Hillary, Eric Holder, General Petreaus, and Robert Gates weighed in on this insignificant Pastor’s behavior? Why would they choose to blow oxygen on that small pyre? The President ignores appeals for his birth certificate but speaks out on a small-potatoes pastor? Tell me you are not that stupid.

It didn’t happen by accident. I would say that there is a direct connection to the Ground Zero Mosque and the White House’s attempt to show us how intolerant Christianity is.

“You see now don’t you? Christians can be radical too…but they don’t represent all of Christianity. It is a “fringe” group. Most Christians are moderate and tolerant.”

Do me a favor. Reread that last sentence and substitute “Muslim” everywhere you see “Christian.” That is the agenda. Except they fail to point out that a radical Christian is willing to die for his faith, while a radial Muslim wants to kill for his. The actions of radical Christians and the actions of radical Muslims bear no resemblance.

And of course the “ moderate” Christians always jump into the media trap. They fall all over each other to let the world know that “lunatic” Pastor Terry Jones does not represent “their” Christianity. Whatever that means…

But that is the heart of the problem…”their” Christianity. Too many have remade God in their image. Sadly, there are many different versions of Christianity in the world today, and each one claims to speak for God…most a figment of their imagination of Jesus.

Let me ask you a troubling question that perhaps you haven’t had the courage to ask yourself.

What if God really did tell Pastor Jones to burn the Quran? (Pardon me while I borrow a question from the leftists) “Who are you to judge Pastor Jones?” Hmm?

Certainly you can see that all of this media manipulation is an attempt to herd the sheep towards the gospel of John Lennon.

Imagine there’s no heaven. It’s easy if you try. No Hell below us. Above us only sky. Imagine all the people, living life in peace. You may say that I am a dreamer. But I’m not the only one. I hope some day you will join us. And the world can live as one.

As I listened to a “moderate Christian” talk show host this morning speak for Christianity and its virtues, (among the most important was “respect” and “tolerance” for “other religions” and especially their “holy books”) I couldn’t help but ask myself a piecing question.

Does Jesus respect and tolerate other religions?

In fact, this self-identified Methodist talker informed his listeners that a follower of Jesus would never show such disrespect to another person’s religion. I couldn’t help but wonder what he thought Jesus had died for. Vain philosophies.

Did Jesus die to merely share the platform with the other religious headliners? Are His followers supposed to put Muhammad, Buddha and the boys on equal footing with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?

Does Jesus respect Islam? Would a follower of Jesus every burn a book? The talk-show host said no. Most Christians say no. Ever wonder what the Bible says?

Randall Terry recently wrote:

Throughout the Old and New Testaments, fire is a sign of the judgment of God. Fire came down on Sodom and Gomorrah; Moses burned the golden calf; Joshua burned cities in Canaan; God ordered enemy chariots and “sacred” pagan idols to be burned in fire; Elijah called fire down to consume military men who came to capture him; when Israel forsook God, God brought the Babylonians to burn Jerusalem – including its palaces and Solomon’s temple – to the ground.

Christ said, “Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire….” (Matt. 3:10) and “I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!” (Luke 12:49)

In Acts 19, Paul orchestrated the burning of books on witchcraft which “mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”

I guess, as followers of Jesus, the issue we are going to have to come to grips with is whether or not Jesus was who He said He was. If the Bible is true, then Islam is a lie. If the Bible is true, Darwin was a fool. If the Bible is true, there are no other “holy” books. If the Bible is true…

Would you object to the burning of the Satanic Bible, or are Christians supposed to “respect” and “tolerate” it as well? Which “holy” book has led more people to hell…the Satanic Bible or the Quran? Sorry…please don’t cut off my head…just asking.

Would Jesus respect the Satanic Bible? Does Jesus respect the Quran?

Secularism has crept into our churches. Most Christians judge behavior by secular standards.

Standing up for Jesus in the public square has become “intolerant” and certainly no “good Christian” would want to violate that most important of all secular-commandments.

WWJT…What Would Jesus Tolerate…that is the question Christians should be asking ourselves.

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Exodus 20

No other gods…I guess there are other gods beside Jesus…and He made His position on them very clear.

Here is the point. If “religion” is merely to be used as a set of values by which we live our lives, then I suppose it doesn’t matter which one you choose. But if heaven and hell are real, and there really is life beyond this world, then “religion” takes on a whole new perspective. Christianity is not a popularity contest and it is certainly more than a life-enhancing philosophy.

If the Bible is true, then all other roads lead to hell. Christianity has a cross at one end and an empty tomb at the other.

Jesus was very intolerant…I AM THE WAY…NO OTHER GODS. Would Jesus burn a Quran? I don’t know…but He does promise to burn souls.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev. 20.

I think it is time Christians stopped worrying so much about being nice and started being honest.

Does Jesus respect Islam or is He jealous? It would behoove us to know the correct answer.

    Dear Catch The Fire Ministries,
This is an excellent article! Thank you for putting it up on the website, as it is a timely reminder to these “tolerant” Christans that they are simply indulging their own lack of courage, and being inaccurate to the Word of God.
Jesus warned us to he on the look-out for false prophets, and yet these cowardly people who call themselves Christians, choose to ignore the very person (Christ) after whom they took their title “Christian”.
Ps. Terry Jones brought the issue into world prominence with his courageous stance, and it is indeed fascinating and very worrying to see the reaction of so-called Christian warriors! Some warriors.
The article certainly should have encouraged Christians who pride themselves on being “tolerant” to go back to their Bibles, and just check out how tolerant God is of back-sliders, and those who worship false gods, and kow-tow to false prophets.

Brilliant commentary – No Jesus does not tolerate the Quranm or any idol that detracts from his Glory. The words ‘politically correct’ are the catch cry of the day – where do those words come from? The media of course! The media are simply a bunch of people who hang on to their jobs by a slim thread. they have to walk over each others bodies to survive. if they can get footage out of denigrating those who want to live a moral life, then they will do so at any cost..

Ever since I have have become a christian the catch cry was don’t step on the annointed – regardless of how immoral, abusive, intolerant they are of their laity. Its the same catch cry regarding other cultures, and anti God groups- we are trained not to challenge the status quo – both in the church (because we must remain silent in the pew) and in the world.(because we might upset someone.) It seems Jesus upset the religious people all the time.

WE are a frightened humanity to scared to stand up for God and too scared to challege our own brethren.

As speaking up publicly is the worlds biggest fear the devil has us snookered; as christians we do not dare challenge the pastors and believe me they need to be challenged as much as the media.
Just because we sit in a pew does not make us more acceptable to God – its our life of faith among others that counts -simple faith, lived out in love, yet as I hear over and over again christians sit in the pews and leave all the tacky work to the pastors, while they go home and turn on their tv sets. Thank the lord that one pastor is prepared to be counted and make a show of burning idols, the quran being as evil in intent as the worship of a golden calf. Even if I would not not think to do that personally I certainly would if I got the nod from the Holy Spirit.

I wrote quite openly about the anti Jesus hostility of the cults and the muslims and a christian said I was taking my life into my own hands – no, my life is in God’s hands
We know deep down that if we speak up as I have chosen to do, our life is on the line. Is that not what the life of Paul was about??Putting his life on the line every single day. I have yet to be aware of one single pastor of a large congregation who is prepared to do what he tells others to do, give God the glory, speak up and go on the offensive instead of being on the defensive. When the ministers keep the messages nice the glory goes to the ministry and not to God.
The program must go on at any cost, the building must be perfect, the singers in place while the platitudes from the pulpit make my stomach churn ‘you are all looking beautiful today’ while the mum who does not have the food to feed her family sits quietly too scared to say a word. Another disco light goes up and another pastor gets air con in his office.
The religion of christianity as the world perceives it today is superficial, its keeping up with the entertainment industry which is not a biblical mandate. Jesus said go out two by two and be prepared to live with people, be in relationship with them if they welcome the good news. We argue about the noise of the music, the colour of the walls, the religious garb be it post modern or old testament.

I agree there are so many versions of christianity today and it started first with the catholic church who made up their own heresys, then other denominations crept in slowly, keeping some rituals and dispensing with others. I will say it again being a christian is an individual decision, and we choose to stay in fellowship with other christians who will encourage our call to go; this does not have to be a sunday ritual, being a member of a religion. why then do we submit to the voice of a pastor who morally, and ethicaly has different values to you and who discourages you from stepping out? The pastor who is beligerent and rude to women generally and whose family suffers under his autocratic rule.
Why do we do we put all the responsibility to shepherd a flock on the pastor when most of them by their own admission, hate pastoring ie they hate being with people – they run out when the service is over and leave it to the real pastors to do the work. The last time I made an appt to see a pastor his reply was ‘i dont see people’. The bible says we need many to train and equip us, so the catholics elected a pope and the denominations appoint the charismatic gifted showmen while the real christians go about sharing the love of Christ.
I am disturbed more then anything about the loungeroom critics who come home evry sunday criticising it all, but go back to the pew each sunday. They do not feel they can speak out in the church so how are they going to find the courage to go and share the good news and defend Jesus. When the tv shows cuss and curse their way thru a film I suggest someone have the courage to say this is not right. Last time I heard a preacher speak to about a hundred or so, I could not stomach the waffle and condemnation and stood up loudly declaring that what he was saying was not biblical. That was not politically correct but I would rather be judged by the brethren then allow someone to say things that did not glorify God. Dear God, dear lord Jesus, please bring on the persecution, bring us the pauls, the Johns, help us to stop running from the opinions of the day, help us to speak in your timing and with your grace. Help me to have my lamp lit, my heart ready and the opportunity to bring another soul to you.

I heartilyagree with the writer of the above articke.

Our God is a jealous God and He said we should have no other gods besides Him, when the Israelites went into the promised land they were to destroy all of the pagan gods and their worship sites and high places, no holds barred. The reason being lest they be snared by them and fall into the trap that these things bring about in their lives. These gods if they worshiped them would bring a curse into their lives and they were not to bring any of these things into their homes unless they become an abomination like them, these gods were demons and the Lord caused the land to vomit the people out before the Israelites. God warned the israelites not to copy the nations that they were displacing in their sexual relationships, idol worship or sorceries or lest the land will vomit them out too, see Lev 18 and Deut 18.

We under no circumstances as christains should take our shoes off and go into mosques, budhist or hindu temples because taking our shoes off and going into these places, causes us to come under that demon spirit’s control and authority that rules those places. It is giving that entity power over us. Both Moses and Joshua in their experiences with God were told to take off their shoes they were on Holy ground and their have been times when I have been worshiping God and He has told me to take off my shoes for I am standing on Holy ground made hallowed by His presence in the room where I was. He is the only person we should take off our shoes to in His presence only.

The pastor who said he would burn the koran which is not a holy book but a book of the devil was talked about in our home group and I said what if God did ask him to burn the koran and to tell the truth I would have joined him in burning the koran it is the most hate filled book I have ever had the misfortune to read and if we could stop a few of them circulating the better. I have studied Islam at uni and I know what they believe. Jesus would not have respected their religion and still doesn’t any muslim I have read the testimony of have said that Jesus challenges them to make a choice ever to follow Him and His way and the Bible or to follow the lies of islam and most muslims choose to follow Jesus even if it means dieing for their new found faith.

Getting back to my home group needless to say there was a hue and cry over what I said, I let it drop but thought about it later and I would have added that in the OT the early judges and prophets did destroy the pagan sites as did the good kings of Judah even burning the bones of the pagan priests on their altars that is how much our God hates these things. He is zero tolerance of these things because they lead people to hell.

The early disciples turned the world upside down by their preaching and they were not worrried about the nicesities of cross culturalism and worrying about upseting the other culture which I feel missionary societies today are more concerned about tolerance and watering down the gospel and offending the culture they are going into rather than telling the gospel and letting the Word and Spirit of God change lives. They are running scared of the demons in these cultures and bow down to them even allowing our God who is called by His Hebrew names to be called by these pagan god names which god has never tiven us to know Him by because they are buying into the lie that these people have some of the truth and know our God by these pagan names which is a lie and it makes mockery of the scripture which says there is no other name than Yeshua (Jesus) under heaven by which men can be saved. Half the time the missionary societies end up with burned out missionaries and little or no fruit why because they have become ashamed of the gospel and have allowed it through tolerance and political correctness to be watered down.

This pastor in the US rattled some cages and if he did go ahead with the Koran burning I believe they may have moved the ground zero mosque elsewhere, interesting God is dealing with NY and other cities by bringing His judgment upon them in the form of a plague of bedbugs. God said in these last days judgments will come upon the earth through plagues, fannines, earthquakes which we have experienced here in Christchurch and we still are having strong aftershocks because God is trying to get our attention that He wants us to repent and turn to Him. Pakistan hit with floods because God has had enough of islam persecuting His people. Disaster after disaster is going to keep happening on the earth because God is righteous and He is angry and He is bringing His judgments to bear upon sinful man to try and get him to turn back to the true and living God. God said through a prophet Lance Lambert you can look him up on the internet by googling his name and he has given five prophecies and they are relevant for today. God has said through him that He God will deal with the arrogant spirit of Islam and breaks its hold over the people it has held captive. So in essence does Jesus respect or tolerate Islam and after reading these prophecies by Lance Lambert I will have to say no. God will not tolerate or brook any other gods beside Him. He alone is God there is none else, He is the God of Israel and because of man’s plans to divide the Holy land of Israel which is not negotiable God is very very angry and He is shaking the earth He is roaring from Zion and He will deal with these nations that dare come against His Holy land to divide it, He has a controversy with the nations and He will judge them because going against Israel is going agaisnt God Almighty Himself.

By the way when I finsihed my studies of islam at university after the course was finished and I didn’t need the koran any more I burned it. I am not ashamed of what I had done and I will do it again. I was only a young christian at the time i did this, this going back to the late 1970’s when I did this. I came to the Lord at the tail end of the charismatic renewal and I was at uni and I loved the Lord so much and still do that I cannot tolerate anything that goes against My God and His ways.

I have often said that I am willing to die for my faith rather than bow the knee for islam or any other religion that flies in the face of My God and who He is.

If YHVH made it very clear to the Israelites that they were not to worship any other gods besides Himself if they wanted tor receive blessings from Him. So too Christians must also not have any other gods besides YHVH and His Son Yeshua if they want to have His blessings on their lives.

  4. 4 Jennifer Bolton

I forgot to mention, that YHVH does love the muslim people and that Yeshua died for them too, however they like us who have come to faith in Yeshua must come to Him on His terms not ours.

That they just we had to must repent of their sins and confess with their mouths that Yeshua is Lord and ask Him to come in and be Lord and Saviour of their lives, and this means renouncing the old life and its ways including denouncing and believing in the teachings of the koran.

They like us need to be discipled and to find a good fellowship ro secret one if they are in of the muslim countries, ask God to help them get a Bible and allow God’s Spirit to lead, guide and teach them and to get water baptised as soon as possible.

Of course some people have been called by God to specifically minister to the muslim people and I praise God for these people who are willing to lay down their lives for them. God will bring a great harvest to Himself from these people and when they become a alive in Jesus / Yeshua they are full on for God winning others to faith in Yeshua. They are willing to risk everything for their faith inclduding their lives.

Those who are called by God to minister to the muslim people really need the Holy Spirit to lead and guide them on how to witness to them and to be sensitive to the Spirit’s leadings on who to speak to and how to apporach people and to be prayed up and they would need a good team of intercessors to back them up and be praying for them as it is a dangerous path to take in reaching out to muslims. However if they are called of God to go to this people group YHVH will be there watching over them and protecting them where ever they go but they would still need good prayer support from back home if they are in another country.

Abrahma’s other children still need to come to faith in Yeshua as He is the only way to Abba Father. I do pray for these people from time to time as the Spirit leads.

I am just saying in my comment above that God does not tolerate the worship of other gods besides Himself but He does love the muslim people, He died for them and He is reaching out to them continually through various means, mainly through visions and dreams revealing Himself to them in this way.

We must keep praying for them to come to know Yeshua s their Prince of Peace because faith in Yeshua is the only way the Middle East will have true peace when people whether, Jew, Arab or Gentile from other nations can come to faith in Yeshua and this breaks down the barrier of hostility between these groups caused by the different religious beliefs. The Middle East will only have true and lasting peace when Yeshua comes back physically to rule from Jerusalem on the throne of David and the whole earth will be filled with His glory and He will bring peace and healing in His wings. He will restore to Israel the good things He has planned for her and the promises He has spoken concerning Israel will be completely fulfilled at His return and He will rule from an Israeli kingdom with the capital city of His kingdom being Jerusalem that is why there has been so much strife over the land of Israel and Jerusalem as it is God’s land and it is His Inheritence and the devil knows it and he will do everything he can to stop Yeshua from coming back to His homeland to rule form there. It is a spiritual battle over the Middle East and God will win that one.

We need to be praying and reaching out to the Jews too as they are Yeshua’s bretheren see Romans 1:16 and Romans chapter 11.

Again i agree where is the courage that the man who wrote the article had; and where are the Christians Like Ps danny who don’t skirt real issues; I sent off my recent book ‘From Religion to Faith’ to a retired christian journalist and he read 12 pages ,emailed me and said on no account publish it; not only would I have angry lawyers I would be shot by the Muslimns and I was putting my family in danger.
I was so shocked because I did not say any more then blogs around the world are saying so i went to a solicitor who said publish your book. The hit list for the terrorists is so long why should I be the one to go to the top.

It does come down to the issue of: will we die for our faith? The journalist said at least die preaching Jesus but my book is all about exactly that – faith in Jesus creates relationship whereas religions including so called christian religions take us to war.
Anyway I love to see these blogs where people will put their words into actions, knowing that our safe democracy will no doubt one day come to an end.

Thank you for your welcome home message.

We had a really Blessed time in Jerusalem the city of our great God, celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles.

As Christians we need to stand up to the false teaching within the Churches. Many people are being deceived from the pulpit. The gospel has been so watered down to enable people to feel good not realising that they are on the broad path rather than the narrow path to salvation.

When we stand up for the truth of God we are labeled as radicals and causing trouble within the Church. We are thankful that our Lord God has revealed more knowledge to us to discern the truth. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6

God has promised that He will increase our knowledge at the end of the Age. This has been testified at the conference we attended by the speakers pointing us to Zechariah 12 & 14, which refers to current times where Jerusalem has been surrounded by the nations wishing to divide the city up.

God will soon intervene as prophesied by Zechariah. Christians must ensure that their lamps are burning. Revelation 12:14.
