Global Day of Prayer on Pentecost Sunday 23rd May AUSTRALIAN  PRAYER  NETWORK  NEWSLETTER

TEN DAYS OF PRAYER FOR THE WORLD AND GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER

The Global Day of Prayer is a call to Christians to unite in a day of  repentance and united prayer. On Pentecost Sunday 23 May 2010, Christians across the world will respond to the invitation of 2 Chronicles 7:14 to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways in order that He may fulfil His promise to hear our prayers, forgive our sin and heal our lands.

The Australian Prayer Network is coordinating prayer across Australia for this Global event. Preparation for the Global Day of Prayer begins on Ascension Day, 13th May. That is when Christians across the world will begin 10 days of prayer leading to Pentecost. On Pentecost Sunday 23rd May 2010, Christians in almost every country of the world will assemble to pray, many in small groups in homes, some in Churches, outdoor venues, and other public places.

THE GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER Pentecost Sunday, 23 May

Pray with your church on Pentecost

Devote portions of your Pentecost Sunday morning service to united prayer. Help everyone realize that on this day we are all praying with the world as we pray for the world.

Pray:

*   Let Your kingdom be established in every nation of the world so that governments will rule with righteousness and justice, and may Your Name be great, from the rising of the sun to its setting.

*   Repenting on behalf of our world which is gripped by the power of sin and for our lives which are grieved by injustice, hatred and violence.

*   For the transformation of the Church into the image of Jesus Christ. For the release of His power to bring healing to the sick, freedom to the oppressed, comfort to those who mourn and wisdom and insight for the complex problems we face today.

*  For the tearing down of strongholds and ideologies that resist the knowledge of God and for the removal of the veil of darkness that covers the peoples and for the defeat of evil that promotes violence and death, breaking the hold of slavery, tyranny and disease.

*  For the King of Glory to come and finish His work in our cities, our peoples and our nations.
