The leaders of the Central Assemblies of God Church in Tehran, have announced that Friday worship services will no longer take place and only two Sunday services will be conducted in future. The Church has been conducting 2 worship services each Friday afternoon in what represented the largest formal public gathering of Iranian Christians inside Iran, It has been under extreme pressure from the Ministry of Information to shut down its Friday meetings. The decision to close the Friday services was made in the best interest of the membership of the church.

The announcement of the termination of the Friday services was received with shock and surprise. Rev. Soorik, the overseer of the AOG Churches in Iran who made the announcement, has been under ongoing pressure from the officials of the Ministry of Information to close down the church on Fridays, the official day of worship in Iran when most people do not work. The Revolutionary Guards had demanded the closure of the church by October 31, 2009, or they would close it for good by force. The decision to close the Friday services was therefore made to protect the members.

The Assemblies of God Church of Tehran was founded by several Godly men and women many years before the Islamic revolution. This church continued its ministry after the victory of the Islamic Revolution and several pastors were martyred by extremist and fanatic elements within the regime. So far no reasons for the closure of the Assemblies of God Church have been given by any government official. However it demonstrates the intention of the government with regard to the Iranian Christian communities within Iran.

    Dear Catch the Fire staff,

Isn’t it interesting how outspoken muslims in Australia consistently advise everyone they meet how tolerant they are of other religions.

As this article confirms, the reality is completely different.

We must continue to pray for the safety of our Christian brothers and sisters in Iran. They are no essentially forced to worship in house churches.

    Deeply concerning !

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

    John 3:16
Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
    Word was God.

John 1:2 He was in the beginning with God.

John 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one
thing came into being that has come into being.

Heb 1:1 God, who at many times and in many ways spoke in time past to the
    fathers by the prophets,

Heb 1:2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has
appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds,

Heb 1:3 who being the shining splendor of His glory, and the express image
of His essence, and upholding all things by the word of His power, through
Himself cleansing of our sins, He sat down on the right of the Majesty on
    high.

Don’t be fooled. God is not mocked by your vain gyrations trying to make it into His home “your way”. He has given you THE WAY. His name is Jesus.
