Was it just coincidence that Mr Hulls released his Media Release on Sunday?

Probably not when it was mainly Christians who put up the fight against the further infringements to freedom of Speech and Religion that were being considered by the Victorian Government Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee. (SARC)

Have those concerns been allayed? NO. Is this a win? NO, it is simply LESS of a LOSS than it might have been – dressed up to appear to be a win.

Lest we forget, Mr Hulls has openly stated that he is opposed to ALL discrimination!!

YES, Christian Churches and Schools can continue to call sin, sin, BUT ONLY when it comes to those people it employs who are directly teaching religious studies or preaching, ALL other ‘staff’ in churches or schools will now come under much greater scrutiny.

The Equal Opportunity Commissioner, Dr Szoke, is quoted in the Herald Sun as saying she was pleased religious bodies would soon have to demonstrate how employing someone of a particular religion is an inherent requirement of a job. “Religious schools or religious charities, for example, will have to show how belonging to a particular religion is relevant to the job they are trying to fill.”

Does that sound like FREEDOM?
NO. It means that for any other position in a School or church the government can accept a complaint and make you go through an inquisition as to why the gardener or the Maths teacher or the church receptionist can’t be an adulterer, a fornicator, a homosexual, a liar or a gossip.

Mr Hulls, who is married to a Catholic, has seized on the compromise position of the Catholic Church and other Christian groups to say that these changes are acceptable to ALL Christians.
Mr Hulls said “These changes, which have the support of the Catholic Church, put paid to the doomsayers who suggested the Government was undermining religious freedom, Their claims have proved to be nonsense.”

REALLY? Some may think so, but we do not. Certainly, Christians have no legitimate grounds to discriminate on the basis or race because we are all one race. And it certainly should not discriminate on the basis of colour, but all other characteristics and choices should bematters of freedom of choice, belief, and association. ANY government intervention in these things is a denial of our freedom – the freedom this nation was established on many years ago. Even if some misused that freedom, that is no reason to deny it to everyone..

Naturally, the homosexual lobby, who are leading the fight to change thediscrimination laws are not happy with the ‘compromise’ because they feel their ‘freedom’ of lifestyle choice is greater than your freedom to religious belief – so does Mr Hulls, but he is happy to get there more slowly – but don’t doubt it, get there he will if the church continues to compromise and accept government control of our freedom.
Action, Stay tuned…

This issue is not over yet and is not going away.

Mr Hulls states at the conclusion of his media Release “The Government has written to the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee, which has been conducting a review into exceptions and exemptions, to thank it for its work and to advise that its report will be considered before the new Equal Opportunity Bill is introduced into Parliament early next year.”

Until the government has considered the full recommendations of the report and present a ‘new’ EOC Act to parliament there is little we can do.

Anything can happen when the final wording of the Bill is placed before parliament next year -especially once the church goes back to sleep!!!
