(Port Of Spain, Trinidad And Tobago)—Thousands of Christians will celebrate National Liberation Day on Saturday, April 4, in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, by parading throughout the main city with decorated floats, singing praises to God and dancing in the streets, followed by a huge rally highlighting the reading of the Word, prayer and, of course, music ministry, according to Frank Porter, Youth for Christ National Director and founder of the event in 2002.

“This is undoubtedly the largest Christian celebration of national and spiritual liberation in the Western Hemisphere,” said Larry Williams, Americas Area Director for Youth for Christ International.

“Its main aim is to mobilize thousands of Christian Youth of the nation and their friends, exposing them to an awesome experience in The Presence of God,” Porter said.

“If you leave this life and did not participate in at least one National Liberation Day experience, believe me, you would have missed out!” Porter exclaimed.

“Pray for us that many souls would be brought into the Kingdom, especially our youth, and that discipleship would follow,” he implored.

“This celebration is heralded by our evening of Praise called “Praise Power” at which a large number of Christian Youth join together from various churches to represent their region,” he said. He added that there are twelve regions in the country, all of which are represented at the “Praise Power.”

“One week later, the awesome experience “Dance Like David Danced” is held, again with all the regions being represented,” the YFC National Director said.

These events are followed on National Liberation Day by the parade and then the rally later in the day. The parade is led by intercessors who are followed by groups of marchers, dancers, musicians and singers from each region of the country.

“The Rally offers a powerful word, from a specially chosen man of God, for the occasion,” Porter stated. Past ministry leaders have included Junior Tucker (2004), Shenelle Franklin (2005), Tye Tribet (2005) and Byran Cage (2006).

The Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of Youth for Christ International is, not surprisingly, located on the twin-island nation state of Trinidad and Tobago. The islands are situated at the southernmost point in the Caribbean Islands. The twin-island republic has a total area of 514 square kilometers.
